Summer Intensive 2005
The three week Monday-Friday Summer Intensive program runs July 5th til July 22, 2005 and consists of three courses: EDU 595 An Introduction to Child Development and Waldorf Education, EDU 595 An Overview of The Waldorf Curriculum K-8, and EDU 595 Artistic Work in the Waldorf School. Classes will be held at Tamarack Community School at 1150 East Brady St. Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

EDU 595 Introduction to Child Development
& Waldorf Education, 2 credits
July 5-22, 15 two-hour classes
8:30-10:30 A.M., Mon-Friday
Course Description - Classes will be presented using the Waldorf approach, including a lecture/discussion period, group singing and eurythmy activities, and regular journal work. Students will study from "The Roots of Education", by Rudolf Steiner, "Phases of Childhood", by Bernard Leivegood and "Teaching as a Lively Art", by Marjorie Spock.

EDU 595 An Overview of Waldorf School
Curriculum for K-8
, 2 credits
July 5-22, 15 two-hour classes
11:00 A.M.-1:30 P.M., Mon-Friday
Course Description - Classes will be presented using the Waldorf approach. Classes will consist of group movement activities, oral presentations, group discussions and journal work. Instructors will present an overview of the Waldorf K-8 curriculum including: language, mathematics, story/history, nature story/science, handwork, art, movement/Bothmer gymnastics and music. Optional reading - "The Education Tasks and Content of the Steiner Curriculum", by M. Rawson and T. Richter

EDU 595 Artistic Work in the Waldorf School, 2 credits
July 5-22, 15 two-hour classes
2:30-4:30 P.M.,
Mon-Friday
Course Description - Classes will be presented using the Waldorf approach. Classes will consist of demonstrations, hands-on artistic work and some journal writing. Students will experience work in: beginning pentatonic flute, wet-on-wet watercolor painting, form drawing, knitting, and pastel and board drawing.

Early Childhood Participation
July 18-22
11:00 A.M.-1:30 P.M.,
Mon-Friday
Early Childhood participants will once again be working with Pam Harsch. During the third week, Early Childhood work (separate from the grades) will take place from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM. Early Childhood participants will work with grades participants during the pentatonic flute, wet-on-wet watercolor painting and knitting sessions.
